I love this portrait because of the contrast. Also it does something i have been trying to use in my images for a while, props. By shooting this women in her normal life the photographer conveyed who she is by looking at the objects that surround her we gain some understanding of the women in the photograph. This will be a interesting technique for me to play with in the future. I couldn't find the name of the photographer who took this photo sadly.

I kept coming back to this image. At first it just looked like a woman on a couch. But then i started asking questions like who is she why is she there, in that twisted shape. It made me curious because it allowed me to create my own story of this woman and what she is doing. I also love this image because it has BEAUTIFUL light and it is beautifully printed. The combo of light and the women's twisted body make this image great.

Im not sure while i like her so much. I like this image because it is interesting, it shows a story. It shows a young boy growing up close to his dad, it shows how even till this day they are still friends and the are united. I love this image because it shows a story something i would like to do with my images.

Artists Notes

I had a lot of feelings going into this project
Worried, worried I would not get the message across to my viewers. Worried that the images would look like girls sucking in their stomachs. Worried the project would fail. I have learned a lot during this project and am really interested on shooting more.
As you know I shot on anorexia. It is important for you to understand why I cropped the images the way I did. These images are all cropped ‘incorrectly’. I cropped my images this way because it exemplified how girls with eating disorders try to crop their bodies in ways they should not be cropped. I believe no one can tell you more about the disease then those who have it, my models. This clip will include my models explaining what they want to tell you about their fight with anorexia.

What makes a good image?
I think to have a really good image the photographer has to have feeling and emotion to what their shooting. I mean naturally for a image to be good their has to be good technique, such as figure ground and leading lines and light and exposure and good lighting. But that is not what actually makes the photo good. A good image says something or teaches some thing. With out a message to convey an image is just an image.

Im not sure exactly what i want to show through this assignment but i have an idea but im not ready to unvail it! So hold your horses let me express my inner artist when i am ready! So i normally dont like when photographs subjects are in the middle but with the building working as some kind of frame i like the photograph.This photograph is rather random which draws me to it. What is a little girl in a white dress doing in a cabin in the middle of no where. If a photo doesnt convey a strong emotion i like it to leave a question among the reader and this photograph does a really good job of leaving a question.

ok This image is on prostatution in China. I really like it because its diffrent then the other work he has on this subject and its a really great angle. It has really good exposure on the foot and i really like the compostion of the photograph.

Ok SSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOo its hard for me to like photos on eating disorders because im very picky about photos of this because i feel like they dont show anything or they are sterotyped. But this one does a good job because of the leading lines of the curtin. And i like how he put her in the bottom of the frame and allowed the rest of the frame to be empty because it goes with the emptyness of her plate and the emptyness she feels. I like how she is not looking at the camera but rather hiding her face and looking ashamed. The photographer did a wonderful job.

I just shot and i actually was excited about 2..? of my shots or some thing like that. So yesterday we went downtown for AP history and something that stood out to me was this man had a whole KKK suit with mask and everything... ok scary which reminded me of a photo.. here it is
Which got me thinking about the kkk and there rituals and im on a tangent but at least im learning...

I have been thinking about this bracketing assignment and i am excited to see what i learn about photography. Im excited to have this class tomorrow! YYAAYY PPHHOOOTOOO! Well this is fun. I dont feel good and im tired but naturally im at school. And the worst part is i cant even sleep in saturday. Which made me decide that all teenagers should REBEL against the stress put on them by the man. So... im starting a cult if you want to join let me know.

Now that i have turned in my final portfolio i can breath. For my final i did portrait. My models were my grandparents and then my best friend johanna. I learned a lot in this project. I had always thought if a cared about subject matter the frame would just be good. I learned i not only have to show subject matter but i have to convey what it means, and that was hard. I wasnt sure how to show johanna because she means so much to me. I ended up coming across a guatamalan flag in her house and i thought that culture was an important part of who she was. So we went to a graveyard and photographed with some of her ansestors. I cant spell :) I love shooting my grandpa so naturally i wanted to also shoot him. He is 93 when i go over to the ouse he is just fixing there door knob! he is amazing!!! So i wanted to show how amazing and freaking awesome my grandpa was. I took pictures of his hands but not enough for my taste.
It was hard to show who these people were and why i so deeply loved in one frame. It was hard to convey anything about them at all.... but i found props usefull and would like to keep photographing my grandparents

aaahhh bbrreeeaattthhh... i have totally flipped out at the end of this term but now im done :) dictionary dot com expresses stress as An applied force or system of forces that tends to strain or deform a body. well its not really deforming my body unless you count the endless knots its giving me but i feel as if its pulling and twisting my body. My brain is on auto poliot.
